Current Water Conditions in Central and Northeastern Florida - April 7, 2006

During the month of March 2006, rainfall throughout the area was below normal in most areas. The rainfall summary table below is based on preliminary data from the National Weather Service (NWS) web page.

SURFACE WATER

As of Wednesday April 5, 2006, of the real-time sites reporting most are indicating lower gage heights than in February.

GROUND WATER

Forty-two groundwater wells throughout central and northeastern Florida were measured near the end of March to determine trends of the Floridan aquifer water level. During March, none of these wells dropped to a new period-of-record minimum elevation. There were forty one wells that dropped from 0.01 ft to 8.06 ft and one well that showed no change.
