There is a USGS Water Science Center office in each State.

Hydrologic Tools and Modeling Programs

  • Benthic Flux and Submarine Groundwater Discharge Calculators—Benthic flux is the rate of flow of some property across the bed of a water body, per unit area of bed, with no limitation on the type of water body or the direction of flow. Benthic flux is a ubiquitous surface-water/groundwater interaction process, with components that are generated by numerous physical, chemical, and biological forcing mechanisms. Submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) is a benthic water discharge flux to a marine water body. The Florida Water Science Center offers several web calculators and modeling tools that characterize specific components of benthic flux and SGD.
  • Numerical Modeling Program—Florida and the USGS use numerical models to solve groundwater, surface water, and geochemistry problems. Additionally, Florida and the USGS use numerous general use software applications, and statistical and graphical packages.
