Current Water Conditions in West-Central Florida - September 27, 2005

Precipitation

Three National Weather Service (NWS) stations and eight USGS rainfall stations were used to represent rainfall conditions for this period. Rainfall in August was below normal at all three NWS stations.

Ground Water

Water levels during August 2005, for selected sites in Sarasota, Manatee, Hillsborough, Pasco, and northeast Polk counties, generally decreased during the entire month. Sites in central Polk and Pinellas counties generally increased over the entire month. In Desoto County, levels increased during the first three weeks of the month, with a decrease occurring in the last week. In Hardee County, levels increased during the first half of the month, with a drop occurring in the last half of the month. Hernando County experienced a decrease in groundwater levels in the first half of the month, followed by a general increase in the second half of August 2005.
